What do we do?

With more than 85 years of combined skill and experience, it’s more a question of what we don’t do.

Check out the list below for just a few of the services we offer. Also don’t hesitate to contact us regarding services not on the list as we will be able to find a solution to your problem.

Warrant of Fitness
We check vehicles for a Warrant of Fitness in accordance with Land Transport Safety Association regulations. We are an MTA approved inspection site. Appointment not always necessary.

Vehicle servicing
Regularly servicing your vehicle could save you money in the long run. A vehicle service enables the mechanic to spot problems and will ensure the car lasts longer, is safe to operate and will hold its value better.

Exhaust repairs, replacements and parts
At Jensen and Moore we pride ourselves in our knowledge and expertise in exhaust repair and replacement. We are the longest running exhaust business in the Horowhenua and we also carry the largest range of exhaust parts.
Your car's exhaust system has several functions, to reduce engine noise, to reduce pollution, improve performance, drive fuel economy and direct poisonous gases away from the car and people inside.

Signs there are exhaust problems: smoke pouring from your exhaust, exhaust rattles or drags on the road, your vehicle is using more fuel, a rusty muffler or exhaust pipe, excessive exhaust noise, unusual exhaust smell.

Tyres

At Jensen and Moore we are able to supply, fit and balance a range of tyres to suit your needs.

Towbars
We supply, fit and wire towbars at a competitive price.

Cambelt
Many cars have cambelts instead of time chains to drive the camshaft. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the cambelt every 100,000km or 5 years (whichever comes first). It pays to stick to this recommendation, as a damaged cambelt will usually destroy an engine.

CV boots/joints
The most common problem with CV joints is when the protective boot cracks or gets damaged. Once this happens, the grease comes out and moisture and dirt get in causing the CV joint to wear faster and eventually fail due to lack of lubrication and corrosion.
A most common symptom of a badly worn outer CV joint is a clicking or popping noise when turning. Usually the noise gets louder when accelerating in turns.

Brake systems
We offer a full brake repair service.
Signs your brakes need attention: squeaking brakes, vibration when braking, excessive noise.

Brake disc machining
You will need to machine brake disc rotors when discs are grinding on worn out brake pads or are rusted.

Suspension and shock absorbers
A vehicle's suspension is made up of three components; the tyre, the spring and the shock absorber. All three components need to be in good working order to keep the tyre properly in contact with the road. Shock absorbers, along with tyres and brakes are important elements of the safety of a vehicle. They are hidden beneath a car's wheel arches, so unlike tyres are not easy to check regularly for visible signs of damage and wear.

Signs your shock absorbers may need replacing: Your vehicle may be bouncy, or when going round a corner there may be bodyroll on the vehicle – meaning it rolls into the corner.

Transmission servicing, gearbox and clutch

We offer transmission servicing.

Signs your automatic transmission needs attention:

Transmission slipping. If you are experiencing automatic transmission slipping, it can feel like you’re driving in a certain gear and then it changes for no apparent reason.

Rough shifts. Your car may feel like its refusing to change gears as it normally does, or the gear shifts aren’t very smooth. Sometimes you can feel or hear a noticeable clunk or thud when the car shifts gears. You may also notice the car has difficulty getting up to speed.

Delayed engagement. If this symptom occurs you will notice a delay before the car actually engages into drive and starts moving forward.

Transmission warning light. A warning light alone, like the “check engine” light typically doesn’t mean you have a transmission problem, but if any of the above symptoms are occurring in conjunction with a warning light, have it diagnosed by a professional.
Signs your manual gearbox needs attention:

Slipping out of gear. a “grawnching” sound or finding it had to put into gear.

Clutch sticking. The pedals become harder to press or disengage, and there's a burning smell.

Radiator replacements
We offer full radiator replacements.

Battery replacements
We stock a range of Century batteries.
